“Judgement to General Pavle Strugar”

General Pavle Strugar is the only one of the four indicted officers of the former Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) who was tried for the shelling of Dubrovnik before the International Criminal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The indictment against Admiral Milan Zec was withdrawn due to a lack of evidence, Captain Vladimir Kovačević was declared unfit for trial and sent to a psychiatric institution for treatment, while Admiral Miodrag Jokić pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. General Strugar was found guilty of violating the laws or customs of war and sentenced to 8 years in prison in January 2005. On appeal, his sentence was reduced to 7.5 years in prison.
